Latest Updates and Additions

Over the last week or so, I have added some new information and additions to improve and build this website.
From now on, I will try to remember to add the latest updates/Upgrades as I change them and advise the changes here.
Feedback is most welcome, and thanks for all the feedback so far, especially with the introduction of this page in August 2026.

The Papakura Radio Club Info Page , this gets updated on a weekly basis to inform everyone on what's happening at the club and for the lastest news.
This page will not be mentioned for updates below.

2026/09/27
In Antenna Projects, I have added a new link in the Antenna Projects page. I have added a link to Peter's website VK6YSF.
It is a very interesting site with construction of antennas and balun's with other info too long to list. Be sure to check it out.

2026/09/23
In Amateur Radio Information, I have updated the Amateur Radio Information page. I have added what documents, you are required to bring along when sitting the exam, plus finding and selecting your callsign.
I have added a link That takes you to the RSM website to search for a callsign to see if it is available.

In projects, I have updated the Meshcore Room Server or Companion page. I have added details to purchase and diagram to fit a BMS (Battery Management System).

In Antenna projects, I have changed the layout and updated the Diamond CP6 Antenna Repair page.

Added the September's edition of "NZ and Australian magazine" Check out the previous editions. NZ & Australia Amateur Radio page.
Added "The Bureau of Meteorology" link which was discussed at the Papakura's Radio Club last night. found here Other Interesting Links page.

2026/09/01
Updated the "Icom Information plus Mods" in the Icom Radio page.
Added a step by step guide and removed a hardware modification for the HM219 mic as it was no longer required as it is now all done in the software of the radio to program each of the UP/Down buttons.
This guide applies to both the 7300 mk 1, and the 7300 mk II, as it uses the same menu commands for both radios.
Seperated the Mic Gain mod for the HM-219 on it's own.

2026/08/27
Updated the "Software" and Icom Radio page.
Added the latest driver from Icom, driver Ver 1.8 for the IC-7300 Mk2. to both locations. Any issues after updating of this driver, refer back to the old 1.3 Driver.
Check the list for which radios this new driver covers.
NOTE: This new driver is not for the 7300 Mk1. Still use Ver1.3

2026/08/26
Updated the "Meshcore" page.
Removed the two project builds off this page and made them via links on the Meshcore page to there own project, rather than all on one page.
Added the new projects to build, a Room Server or Companion. and Meshcore Solar Repeater
Both these Meshcore projects have also been added to the Project Construction Page here.

Added Decodium under the Digital programs in Software
This is still new to me and I will comment more once I have a play.

Added, Amateur radio Clubs in the Auckland Region page.
This includes all the details and website links, which some include their news letters and events. Certainly worth a look and keep updated on whats happening in and around Auckland.
